Tim Thomas, 69, Minot died on Monday February 27, 2023 in a Minot hospital with his loving son and daughter-in-law at his side.
Timothy Alan Thomas was born on December 6, 1953 in Kenmare, ND to Robert and Bobbi (Rountree) Thomas. He was raised in Lignite, ND and in Minot, where the family moved in 1963. Tim attended school in Minot, graduated from Minot High School in 1972 and briefly attended Lee University in Cleveland, TN.
Tim enlisted in the U.S. Navy on January 31, 1974 and served aboard the USS Durham during the Vietnam War until his honorable discharge on May 10, 1976. He was proud to have received the National Defense Service Medal (First Award). Following his discharge from the Navy, Tim was employed by the United States Postal Service as a mail carrier for 31 years until his retirement in 2009.
Tim was once married to Cindy (Reile) Thomas. They were the parents of Jacob and made their home in Minot.
Tim especially enjoyed golfing, basketball, and was an avid sports fan. He also loved music, playing guitar, and spending time with his grandchildren, Ada and Ash. He was a member of the Souris Valley Golf Club, the Minot Country Club, and the Moose Lodge.
Tim’s loving family includes his son: Jake (Becky) Thomas of Minot; grandchildren: Ada and Ash; father: Robert Thomas of Minot; brother-in-law: Vern Bohara of Burlington; niece: Becky Bohara Saylor; and his extended family in Kentucky and Tennessee. He was preceded in death by his mother, Bobbi Thomas, and sister, Elinda “Kay” Bohara.
Celebration of the Life of Tim Thomas: Monday, March 6, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. in the Thomas Family Funeral Home Chapel.
Interment will be in the Spring at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery – rural Mandan.
Visitation: Sunday from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
Memorials are preferred to the organization of the donor’s choosing.
