Burnie H. Geohring, 89, of Bismarck, passed away February 16, 2023, surrounded by his loving family, at Good Samaritan Society – Sunset Drive, Mandan.

A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, February 21, 2023, at Bismarck Funeral Home.   Burial will follow at 2:00 PM at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Tuesday.

Burnie was born on May 28th, 1933, in Gackle, ND to parents Henry and Emelia (Sommerfeld) Geohring. He was born as second child of 5. He attended Gackle schools until graduating and serving his country honorably in the US Army in Germany. Burnie returned and worked for the North Dakota Highway Dept until his retirement of 40 years as a project manager.

Burnie spent much of his life outdoors working, traveling, walking and spending time with family members and relatives from many states.

He married his bride Donna Thom on June 15, 1958 in Center, ND.

He is survived by his wife, Donna; three sons, Mark (Tracy) Geohring, Kevin (Michelle) Geohring, Brian (Marla) Geohring; grandchildren, Jason (Terrin) Geohring, Kaitlin (Ben) Atchison, Matthew Geohring, Christopher (Indigo) Geohring, Ashlee (Freddy) Johnson; great grandchild, Cameron Johnson; and his siblings, Violet Diede, Lois (Geohring) Elmer Schlecht, Larry (Hope) Geohring; sister-in-law, Linda Thom; and brother-in-law, Allen Karlin

He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Emelia Geohring; his grandparents, Jacob and Wilhelmina Geohring and Daniel and Lydia Sommerfeld; a younger brother Delyle; brothers-in-law, Raymond Diede and Donald Thom; nephews, Delyle Diede, Jerome Wentz; sister-in-law, Marilyn Karlin; and a grandson, Ryan Geohring.
