George C. Hoff

George C. Hoff, 95, Dickinson, died on Sunday, February 12, 2023, at CHI St. Alexius Bismarck. George’s Mass of Christian Burial will be at 9:30 a.m., Tuesday, February 21, 2023 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Richardton with Fr. Thomas Wordekemper, OSB as celebrant. Military Honors will be provided by the Richardton American Legion Theo R. Zech Post 180. Interment will take place at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Richardton. Visitation will be on Monday from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson with a rosary and vigil at 6 p.m. with Deacon Robert Bohn presiding. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday.

George C. Hoff was born on July 30, 1927 in Dickinson, the son of Albert and Rose (Fleck) Hoff. He was raised and educated in Richardton, having graduated from Assumption Abbey in 1945. He went on to graduate from Bellevue University in Bellevue, Nebraska.

George was united in marriage to Agnes Dauenhauer on June 30, 1951 at St. Vincent’s Catholic Church, Petaluma, CA and to this union five children were born, Kathleen, Janet, Therese, Gerard, and Margaret. George later married Vivian Davis on July 24, 1991.

He joined the United States Army and served honorably for 26 years. Having served tours in Europe, Okinawa, Thailand, Vietnam and Korea, and numerous U.S. assignments. Following his retirement, George worked as a salesman for pest control products in Omaha. He has been a resident of Park Avenue Villa since moving back to North Dakota at age 90.

He belonged to the KC Council #1515, life member of VFW Post 10785, American Legion Post 0374, and also the F.O.E. #2328. In his spare time he enjoyed hunting, collecting antiques, music, playing the guitar and the piano.

George is survived by his children, Kathleen (Ric) Roderick, Brooklyn Park, MN, Janet (Mark) Easterling, Bulverde, TX, Therese Hoff, Bellevue, NE, Gerard (Anna) Hoff, Live Oak, TX, and Margaret (Matthew) Arens, Gainesville, FL; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; siblings, Charles Hoff, Richardton, Roger (Linda) Hoff, Union, Washington, and Virginia Fettig, Taylor, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Vivian, on August 16, 2011; his brother, Edward (Sharon) Hoff; the mother to his children, Agnes, on February 23, 2001; and in-laws, Mary Ann Hoff and Ray Fettig.
