Mary Lou (Coffey) Bevis, 93, of Bismarck, ND, passed away on Tuesday, January 24, 2023 at Sanford Medical Center in Bismarck.

Cremation has taken place and a memorial service/burial will be scheduled for late spring/early summer in Winnett, MT.

Mary Lou was born October 19, 1929, at Dovetail, MT, the youngest child of Albert and Lois (Garrison) Coffey.  After losing her Mother at a very young age, she was raised by her father and older siblings on the family ranch.  Mary Lou graduated from Winnett High School in 1948 and spent one year working for the Department of Health for the State of Montana.

Mary Lou married Joe Bevis on June 12, 1949 in Winnett.  From this union, four children were born, Nancy, Steve, Johnny, and Karen.  After living in Montana and various communities in Wyoming, Mary Lou and Joe moved to Bowman, ND in 1973, where she worked as a retail clerk for Bennett Drug prior to her retirement in 1991.

After retirement, Mary Lou and Joe enjoyed camping, bowling, and their monthly Supper Club with friends.  She was a member of the Bowman Lutheran Church and the Bowman Lions Club.  In 2011, Mary Lou moved to Bismarck where she resided until the time of her death.  In her later years, she enjoyed reading, doing crossword puzzles and word finds, and watching bull riding.

Mary Lou is survived by her children – Nancy Zeiler of Spring Creek, NV; Steve Bevis of Gillette, WY; and Karen (Blake) Plum of Bismarck, ND;  three grandchildren – Stacy (Art) Hansen, Gillette, WY; Jeremy (Leslee) Zeiler of Spring Creek, NV; and Chris (Julie) Zeiler of Spring Creek, NV; eight great-grandchildren –  Stephanie, Patrick, Bradyn, Zack, Zephan, Makenna, Laykyn, and Payson; brother-in-law Burt (Judy) Bevis; sister-in-law Helen (Arvon) Fielding; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mary Lou was preceded in death by her husband, Joe, her son, Johnny, son-in-law, Richard Zeiler, her parents, sisters – Marguerite, Alberta, Twila, and Madeline; brothers – Joe, Dale, and Bob; sister-in-law, Marian; and brothers-in-law, Earl and Harry.
