Glennis Eileen Maruskie

Glennis E. Maruskie, 86, of Battleview, ND, passed away on January 7, 2023, at Augusta Place in Bismarck, ND.

Glennis Eileen Moe was born on May 17, 1936, in LeRoy, MN. She was the third child of seven born to William and Agnes (Sorenson) Moe. She graduated in 1954 from Crosby-Ironton High School in Crosby, MN.

On March 25, 1964, Glennis was united in marriage to Nealin Maruskie. They made their home north of Battleview, ND where they raised their five children. Glennis enjoyed many hours of fishing with her husband and children.  In addition to family, Nealin and Glennis raised cattle and pigs until his death in April of 1991. Glennis was also a CNA at the Tioga Nursing home from 1986-2002.

Following retirement, she enjoyed spending time with family and friends and was always up for a game of dominoes. Grandma Glennis was often seen in the stands at Powers Lake School events.

Glennis was a member of the Bethel Lutheran Church of Battleview, where she was active in the Ladies Aid and with the quilters by making numerous quilt tops each year. One of Glennis’s greatest passions in life was knitting which started at a young age by making sweaters for her siblings and continued to make numerous items for friends and family members including her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Glennis was a loving wife, mother, grandma, great-grandma, sister, and friend and will be missed by all who knew her.

Glennis is survived by: children, Darl (Rebecka) DeCent of Barnesville, MN; Ray DeCent (Jeanette Mihok) of Gig Harbor, WA; Ken (Nicki) Maruskie of Battleview; Eileen (Tony) Folmer of Regan, ND; Scott (Brooke) Maruskie of Chugiak, AK; nine grandchildren: Heather DeCent, Colton, Keegan, and Sadie Maruskie, Taylor (Tyler) Zeller, Cooper Folmer, Canzada, Zachary, and  Mia Maruskie; two great-grandsons: Oliver and Abbott Zeller; siblings: Ruby Nelson of Henning, MN; Betty Swensen of Emily, MN; and Ken (Barb) Moe of Crosby, MN; sisters in law: Opal Maruskie of Battleview; Judy Goettle of Tioga and Judy Moe of Cass Lake, MN and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband of 27 years, two brothers Clarence and Robert, sister Gerry, nephew Eric Moe, and great-nephew Trevor Johnson.

A memorial service and celebration of her life will be held at a later date in the spring.
