Regina Morel

Regina Morel, 88, Gladstone, passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, January 5, 2023. Regina’s Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m., Wednesday, January 11, 2023 at St. Thomas Catholic Church, Gladstone with Fr. Thomas Wordekemper, OSB as celebrant. Interment will take place at St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Dickinson. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson with a rosary and vigil at 7 p.m. with Deacon Robert Bohn presiding. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday.

Regina was born on July 11, 1934 north of Belfield to Joseph and Mary (Gawryluk) Twardoski. She was raised and educated in the Belfield area.

Regina was united in marriage to Frank J. Morel on May 12, 1954 at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Belfield. Frank passed away on September 21, 2014.

Regina was an excellent cook and baker. She was known for her homemade raised and cake doughnuts, caramel rolls, and a family holiday favorite honey cookies. She enjoyed yardwork, gardening and loved flowers. For many years she canned homegrown vegetables including peppers, pickles, beets and made homemade borscht and other soups. She also made other traditional German and Ukrainian dishes. Regina enjoyed playing cards, birdwatching, collecting and displaying knick-knacks, doing word searches, going for rides to Medora and through the park, and taking walks. Regina was a faithful Catholic. She taught CCD and regularly attended Mass at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Gladstone as long as she was able. She also loved to spend time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Regina is survived by children, Karen (Jim) Leintz, Gladstone, Lee, Othello, WA, Delores (Wayne) Baer, Richardton, Jeff, Gladstone, and Tim, Dickinson; five grandchildren, Twila Tormaschy, Tyler (Cassi) Leintz, Travis (Michelle) Leintz, Michael (MacKenzie) Baer, and Ashley (Chance) Hellickson; and 11 great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by husband, Frank; her parents, Joseph and Mary Twardoski; all 11 siblings; and many other relatives and friends.
