Isabelle Thompson, 94, Minot, died Wednesday, January 4, 2023, in her home.

Isabelle Elaine was born on March 22, 1928 in Minot to Guy and Hannah (Holeton) Furman. She was raised and educated in Minot, attending country schools before graduating from Minot High School in 1944. Too young to attend nursing school, she completed a BA at Minot State College before she graduated in 1949 from Trinity School of Nursing.

Isabelle was united in marriage to Robert Thompson on August 29, 1954. Along with raising their three children, she was employed as a Registered Nurse at Trinity Hospital and taught at the School of Nursing before retiring in 1972. She served Trinity Auxiliary as the coordinator for volunteers making handmade goods and raising funds for large projects such as the skywalk. Robert died on November 17, 1988.

Isabelle was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Minot, where she served on the Church Council, as president of the Church Women, Hannah Circle, a member of McKinley Homemaker’s group and PEO Chapter AV.

She enjoyed volunteering, reading, knitting, sewing, gardening, and traveling. Blessed be her memory.

Her loving family includes, children, Dean (Susan) Thompson, Minot, Sue (Joshua) Arnold, Rochester, MN, Karen (Joel) Iverson, Missoula, MT and seven grandchildren including Megan (Luke) Brandt, Ian (McAyla), and Cullan Thompson; Andrea, Isaac, and Gerard Arnold; and Ckhai Iverson; great grandchildren, Matthias, Isabelle, Robert, and RosLynn; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Isabelle was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 34 years, Robert; siblings, Francis, Gene, infant sister, Margureite, and an infant brother.

Celebration of Life Service: Saturday, January 7, 2023 at 2:30 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot. Interment: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot. To view a streaming of the service access: https://www.mtmsales.net/thomas
Visitation: Friday, January 6th from 5:00-7:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot. Memorials: In lieu of flowers or plants the family prefers memorials to Metigoshe Ministries.
