Margery Bechtold, 92, Minot and formerly of Rural Sawyer, died on Monday, December 26, 2022 at the Benedictine Living Center in Garrison.

Margery Marlis Busch was born on July 31, 1930 on the family farm near Sawyer, ND to William and Irene (Hankel) Busch.  She was raised on the family farm in Sawyer Township of Ward County, attended school in Sawyer, graduated from Sawyer High School and attended Minot State University for one year.  As a young adult she was employed as a dental assistant and office assistant for 2.5 years in the dental office of Dr. Bergem.

Margery was once married to Roy Bechtold.  They made their home on a farm in Newman Township of Ward County south of Sawyer and were the parents of Debra, Randy and Greg.  Margery was the Newman Township Clerk for 26 years and served on the Ward County Canvassing Board during this time.  She moved to Minot in 1980 where she was employed at Home of Economy until she retired in 1992.  Then, she became certified as a caregiver and worked for various families in Minot. 

Margery was a member of Our Redeemers Church, Women of the Moose Lodge, Northwest ND Horticulture Association and Central Dakota Gem and Mineral Society.  She especially enjoyed gardening (especially flowers), rock collecting, baking and sewing and was proud to have received numerous blue ribbons at the North Dakota State Fair for her food and floral entries.

Margery is survived by her children:  Debra Bechtold of Boone NC, Randy (Jamie) Bechtold and Greg (Bonnie) Bechtold all of Minot; grandchildren: Carter- Minot and Bryce – Seattle and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Margery was preceded in death by her parents; grandson: Trevor Bechtold and siblings:  Virgil, Larry, Velma, Adeline and Ronald.

Celebration of the Life of Margery Bechtold: Friday, December 30, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of the Thomas Family Funeral Home – Minot. A livestream of the service may be accessed by accessing https://www.mtmsales.net/thomas
Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens – Minot.
Visitation: One hour prior to the funeral service at the funeral home.
Memorials are preferred to Our Redeemers Church – Minot.
