Wesley Heinle, 75, Dickinson, died on Monday, December 19, 2022 at CHI St. Alexius Dickinson surrounded by his family. Wesley’s Funeral Service will be at 10 a.m., Tuesday, December 27, 2022 at Redeemer Lutheran Church, Dickinson with Rev. Michael Wolters officiating. Military Honors will be provide by the Dickinson American Legion Post 3 Honor Guard. Interment will take place at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan. Visitation will be on Monday from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson with a prayer service at 5:30 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday.

Wesley Wayne Heinle was born to Reinhardt and Hilda (Kitzan) Heinle, on December 5, 1947. Wesley grew up on the family farm south of Hebron and attended both the country school and Hebron Public School. On Wesley’s first day of school, he paced back and forth and said, “I don’t know why I have to go to school; I don’t know anything.” Wes had a lively childhood on the farm. He loved his horse Paint and his Mom’s canned peaches. He didn’t always love the packed school lunches, a fact Hilda found out when she found his sandwiches scattered all over the pastures.
At the tender age of nineteen, Wesley was drafted into the army for the Vietnam War. Wes always remembered turning twenty-one years old while sitting in a foxhole overseas. Wes was honorably discharged from the army after earning numerous accolades, among then the Expert M-4 Sharpshooter, 2 Bronze Stars and a Purple Heart. Upon returning stateside, Wes fulfilled a dream by buying his beloved 1969 Plymouth Road Runner, which he “occasionally” drag raced.
Wes met the love of his life, Renae Marie Weisz, in Dickinson with some fancy car maneuvering after an outdoor movie. They were married October 26, 1974, in Underwood, ND. They settled in Dickinson. After several years of working in the elevator business, he found a job with Consolidated Telephone, where he truly loved working with his construction crew until he retired in 2012. Wes and Renae were blessed with three children and four grandchildren. Wes will be remembered for his easy-going nature and gentle wit. Wes was a people lover, if he met you, he would remember you and would always be a friendly face. Wes loved snow-mobiling, hunting, fishing, playing cards, time with friends, but most of all he loved his family.
Wes lives on through his wife, Renae; son, Shawn; daughters, Chantel (Austin) Zeller and Shannon (Richard) Suggs; four grandchildren, Kylie and Kira Zeller and Zoey and Jameson Suggs; his brother, Russ (Bonnie); sister-in-law, Mary Jean Heinle; and many other relatives and friends.
If the whole world could be made up of Wes’s it would be a far better world. Dad, we love you and miss you and we will see you when we see you.
Memorials are preferred to the local American Legion.
