Duane Ryckman, age 48, passed away peacefully at his home in Lincoln, North Dakota with his family by his side on October 2nd, 2022.
A Funeral Service will be held at 6:00 PM on Friday, October 7, 2022, at Bismarck Funeral Home. Burial will be at 12:00 PM on Saturday, October 8, 2022, at Fairview Cemetery, Bismarck, ND. A livestream of the service will be available on the Bismarck Funeral Home Facebook page. Family will be receiving friends from 4:00 to 6:00 PM prior to the funeral.
He was born September 10, 1974, in Miles City, Montana and moved with his family between Montana, Oregon, and North Dakota. He graduated from high school in Burns, Oregon. Some of his favorite things to do growing up were fishing, hunting and being outdoors. He moved to Pollock in1993 to work for his uncle, Dan Ryckman’s, business. It was there where he met Frankie and started his family of his own.
Duane was an employee at Deans Foods in Bismarck for the past 20 years. Through that job experience he made everlasting friendships with many colleagues. He was known there for his nick name giving and prank playing.
You could see Duane’s pride shine while watching his daughters on the basketball court, playing with his grandkids, reeling in a keeper, shooting a big buck, or riding his Harley Davidson. These things gave Duane stories to share, and he never turned down an opportunity to do so. Duane also genuinely enjoyed lending a hand to others. If there was an item that someone wanted to purchase, there was a good chance Duane would say he could make it for them instead. He spent much of his free time fishing and hunting with his friends, brother, and uncle as those were some of his greatest passions. His ability to make connections with the people he met was incredible to witness. Many will remember him for his incredible storytelling, hard work ethic, sense of humor and helpful heart.
Duane will be deeply missed by his loving wife Frankie; and their 3 daughters, Annie (Sean) Beckler, Cadee and Gracie. Duane will also be greatly missed by his grandchildren, Ruby and Bodee Beckler; his brother, Darrin (Yolanda) Ryckman of Burns Oregon; sisters, Kim Ryckman of Miles City, Montana, and Sue (Howard) Weathers of Burns, Oregon; mother, Pearl (Albert Luithle) of Mott, North Dakota; mother-in-law, Rose Quellhorst; and by his many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Duane was preceded in death by his father, Albert Ryckman; father-in-law, Michael Quellhorst, as well as grandparents, Elmer (Bud) & Dorothy Ryckman and Peter & Genevieve Nieuwsma.
