Rebecca ‘Becky’ Broughton, 82, lifelong Minot resident, died Tuesday, September 13, 2022, in her home.

Rebecca was born July 13, 1940, in Minot, ND to George and Lillian (Becklund) Wallace. She attended school in Minot and graduated from Minot High School in 1958.

Becky was once united in marriage for twenty-four years to William Lange.

She spent her early working years at B&B Drug, Gaffaney’s, First National Bank, American State Bank and as a medical secretary for Dr. Hart and Dr. Keck. After a time at First Western Bank, Becky found her niche at Souris River Telephone (SRT) and North States Power (NSP) working for 24 years, retiring in 2002. Becky began working part-time as a receptionist in 2017 at the Thomas Family Funeral Home.

Becky married Gary Melius in 1985. They enjoyed sixteen years together until his passing in November 2001.

Becky was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, where she was active in Hannah’s Circle and sang in the choir. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Moose Auxiliary, ABWA (now known as the Business Women of Minot) for 25 years and was in charge of volunteers for the Høstfest for many years. She was a member of the Sons of Norway and sang with the Thor Singers.

Becky was united in marriage to Leo Broughton on December 12, 2003 in Powers Lake, ND. He passed away on January 4, 2016. Following Leo’s passing, Becky moved to the Dakota Terrace apartments, where she made and reunited with many lifelong friends.

Becky enjoyed reading a good book, traveling and spending time baking with family and friends. She treasured the time spent with friend and companion, Loren Baglien. Together they enjoyed attending Golden K Kiwanis meetings, laughter and friendship.

Becky is survived by her daughter Jody (Rex) Van Curen, Minot; grandchildren Lorrie (Shane) Dammous, Mandan and Lillie Ackerman (Travis Trueman), Ft. Collins, CO; great grandchildren Bailey (Jonathon Schutt) Dammous, Jayden Dammous, Devin (Kalysta Kraft) Ackerman, Cody (Michelle) Ackerman and Salamae Trueman; great-great granddaughter, Bella Ackerman; brother Gordon (Donna) Wallace, Loveland , CO; several nieces and nephews; companion Loren Baglien, Minot and many extended family members of the Melius family.

Becky was preceded in death by her parents, husbands Gary Melius and Leo Broughton and sister Ardith Lucy.

Interment:  North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan
Visitation: Monday, September 19, 2022, from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at the Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
In lieu of plants and flowers, memorials are preferred to an organization of the donor’s choice.
