Claudia Jean Bohn was born March 16, 1953 to Charles & Edith (Strong) Bohn in Harvey, ND. She was the youngest of four children. She grew up in a tiny farmhouse outside of Hurdsfield, ND. The family moved into town (Hurdsfield) in 1960.
Claudia was a cheerleader, worked at the cafe and babysat throughout high school. She graduated in 1971 from Hurdsfield High School. In the fall of ’71 she went to beauty school, then opened her own little shop in Harvey, ND and lived in the back of it. She definitely had the best times and lived life to the fullest.
She met Richard Bachmeier in 1976 in Harvey. After a six year courtship / engagement they were united in marriage on February 27, 1982 in Las Vegas. From that love, two children were created, a daughter, Ashley Nicole born on December 21, 1982 and a son, Austin Richard born on October 22, 1986. They resided in Bismarck, ND.
Rich died February 6, 2007. It was a great loss to the family and anyone who knew him. In true Claudia fashion, she pushed through, was strong for everyone else and lived the new life she was given. She made the best of it, kept busy and devoted even more of herself to her kids and family. She was a pillar of strength.
Claudia worked at Tucker Sales for 31 years, from 1981 to 2012. She met so many amazing people and made many lifelong friends there. She then worked at Hallmark for a short time, before finishing her semi-retired working days, as a receptionist at Silo Salon. She had been fully retired since 2018.
The extra special relationship she had with her grandson, Kaden, can’t be put into words. Their bond was unbreakable. He stayed with her & helped her for many months once she had too much trouble walking etc. He was there for her till the end, just as she was there for him since the day he was born in September 2001.
I’ve tried to write this a million times, I was “late” getting it in.. simply because there was no way to put such an amazing woman into words. Nothing felt worthy enough. Nothing would give her the true praise she’s so deserving of. So, here is me (Ashley) just speaking from the heart..
My mom was the most selfless, kind, giving, amazing woman. Everyone loved her, everyone knew what a wonderful person she was. I always called her “my Angel on Earth”.
She was amazing at most things. Relationships were no exception. She was a wonderful wife, daughter, sister, friend, co-worker. She was a beyond phenomenal Mom and Grandma. She devoted her life to her children and grandchildren.
She is the epitome of what a mother should be. She is comfort, protection, unconditional love, endless support, countless encouraging words, your safe place to fall. “I love you” had been said a trillion times.
She loved baking, crafting, decorating, cooking, scrapbooking, reading, shopping, holidays, taking pride in a clean house, diet coke, spending time with her grandkids, Days of our Lives, never forgetting a birthday or to send a card, vicks, giving thoughtful gifts, playing card games with her grandkids, almond joy, visiting with family and friends. Always on the go or being productive in some way.
She loved living life and keeping busy all the time. Up early, hair always done, make up on, perfect outfit and a kind, smile on her face before heading out the door to spread her joy.
She always went above and beyond. So, I learned from her and did that with my family. I did it with her too, birthdays, holidays.. anything to celebrate her and make her feel special. Going above and beyond is why I (we) brought her in our home and took care of her for the twelve weeks prior to her passing. I wanted her to feel that loyalty, love, complete dedication and devotion that she always gave, till the absolute end.
She always wanted to make sure everyone around her was happy and taken care of. She put herself last.. always. She deserved the world but she gave it to everyone else. I wish she wouldn’t of done that.
She was an angel in the shape of my Mom. This is a loss one can’t recover from. We’re all lost without you, Mama. We love you!
