Corienne McLaughlin, 92, Minot, died Monday, August 15, 2022, in a Minot assisted living facility.

Corienne was born April 25, 1930, in Rugby, ND to Arthur and Dorothy (Hanson) Teigen. She was raised and educated in Minot, graduating from Minot High School in 1948.

Corienne was united in marriage to Patrick McLaughlin on August 20, 1949, in Minot. They were blessed with four children and made their home in Minot.

Corienne spent her early working years as a secretary for American State Bank, Monagin Credit Corporation, Minot American Legion, Fargo Paint and Glass and Minot Public Schools, under Duane Carlson.

Corienne returned to school and attended Minot State University earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education in 1973. She taught 5th grade at Sunnyside School in Minot for 22 years until her retirement.  Patrick passed away in 1984.

Corienne was a member of the National Education Association, North Dakota Education Association, Minot Education Association, Association Teachers Educators and the Reading Association. She also was an active member of First Presbyterian Church, serving as a deacon and elder, member of Priscilla’s Circle and President of the Women’s Association within the church. She belonged to the Minot American Legion Women’s Auxiliary, Eagles Auxiliary and PEO Chapter AG.

Corienne will be remembered for making countless afghans and the creation of a scrapbook for nearly everyone in her family. She will be missed deeply by all who were blessed to share in her life.

Corienne is survived by her children Maureen (Lewis) Hagen, Bozeman, MT, Pat McLaughlin, Kingston, WA and Tim (Donna Loken) McLaughlin, Minot, ND; grandchildren Andrew (Chelsea) Hagen, Jaime Hagen Evans and Correen (Kameron) Wentz; great grandchildren Silvie and Quinn Hagen, Sean and Cassius Evans and Tahlia and Emerson Wentz; siblings Berta Saugstad, JoAnn Marshall and Peg Hauglie along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Corienne was preceded in death by her parents, husband Patrick, daughter Sharleen Wentz, brother Darcy Teigen and brothers-in-law Harold Hauglie and Charles Marshall.

Service to Remember Corienne McLaughlin: 1:00 p.m. August 25, 2022 at the Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot, ND.
Interment: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot, immediately after our chapel service.
Visitation: August 24, 2022, from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
Memorials are preferred to the donor’s choice.
