Marlene Erdman, 88, Minot died on Thursday, July 21, 2022 in a Minot hospital.

Marlene Marie Berends was born on February 9, 1934 in Sanish, ND to Herman and Lorene (Wadholm) Berends.  She was raised and educated in Minot and graduated from Minot High School in 1952. 

Marlene married Willard Erdman on May 9, 1951 in Miles City, MT.  They made their home in Minot prior to residing in Montana and Utah while Willard was employed as a seismographer.  Also, they lived   in South Dakota, North Dakota and Wyoming while Willard was employed as a uranium driller.  The family returned to Minot in 1958 where they raised their four children and Marlene was an Avon Lady from 1968-1969 and worked at Sunnyside School as a lunch lady from 1970-1974. Marlene attended Minot State University and North Dakota State University.  Marlene was employed as a Program Assistant in the NDSU Extension Office from 1975-1995.  In 1985, Willard and Marlene established Eagle Vault and Concrete Products.  They owned and operated the business until 2011 when they retired and their son Bill assumed ownership.  Willard died on September 1, 2019.  Marlene had continued to reside in Minot at her home until she died.

Marlene was a longtime member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church – Minot.  She was active at the church in the choir, LWML and Stewardship Committee.  She especially enjoyed gardening, sewing, traveling and time spent at their Lake Metigoshe summer home.

Marlene’s loving family includes her children:  William (Laverne) Erdman of Minot, Willard Jr. (Myong) Erdman of Minot, Mark (Loraine) Erdman of Gladstone, ND and Theresa (Ted) Bruesch of Minot; grandchildren:  Mark Jr. (Laura) Erdman, Lisa (Phillip) Corey, Kristi (Nathan) Drost, Matthew Erdman (Brittany), Joshua Bruesch (Ella Parker), Jacob (Alicia) Bruesch and Jessica Bruesch (Shaun Betts); great grandchildren:  Ethan, Payton, Amie, Angie, Addison, Colby, Carter, Cadence, Kohner, Kenadi, Baylen, Anabelle, Abigail, Arabella, Diante, Caden, Josie, Jaxon and Mia and sister: Ella Mae Felt of Moorhead, MN and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Marlene was preceded in death by her parents, husband, infant brother, brother: Harold (Pokie) Berends, 2 infant daughters, grandson: Christopher Erdman, and nephew: Allan Berends.

Interment will be in Rosehill Memorial Park – Minot.
Visitation:  Wednesday from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home – Minot.
Memorials are preferred to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church – Minot, Shepherd Hills at the Crossroads – St. John, ND or to an organization of the donor’s choice.
