He was born on July 2, 1984, in Bismarck, North Dakota, to Patrick and Shari. Chris entered the world with two very admiring big sisters, Jennifer and Amy, who fought over holding him constantly.

Chris’ greatest joy was the love of his family and friends; his family was everything to him. He especially loved his nieces and nephews, which were his pride and joy. He also enjoyed hanging out with his friends. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, kayaking, and music. He would regularly send his favorite music at the time to family and friends and tell them to listen to it. Chris loved tattoos and was always talking about the next tattoo he was planning on getting. He was obsessed with the Hollister clothing brand and was known to spend way too much on it, especially the hooded sweatshirts.

Chris enjoyed working and was always on the go. Throughout his life, he had many jobs. He worked for many bars, restaurants, construction companies, and he also worked for a couple of group homes. Chris was very thankful to his cousin Justin for getting him his job with the Minnesota Laborers Union 563. Chris loved his career as a laborer and the hard work. He constantly talked about his crew members and considered them all his good friends.

He loved sports, especially his favorite teams: the Detroit Lions and the North Carolina tar heels. If you disagreed with him on his teams, he would set you straight with his statistics. He coached many different teams, some of which included his nieces’ elementary basketball teams. He loved fitness and working, and you could always catch him working out at the gym.

Chris was always right there when anyone needed help. He had a HUGE heart, and he would give you the shirt off his back or his last dime. Even if you only met Chris once, he left an impact and a mark on you. Chris truly had a heart of gold. He was the funniest person and had the most contagious laugh. He never failed to make anyone smile. If you knew him, you knew that he had the kindest soul and the biggest heart. Chris would light up any room he came into and always made everyone smile. He was everyone’s biggest supporter and was always there for everyone. Chris enjoyed always taking care of everyone around him and was so dedicated to his family and friends. He made friends wherever he went. Chris was always there for everyone through the tough times and was the smiling face to get through it all.

He is survived by his parents, Patrick Salter and Shari Dauenhauer; his sisters, Jennifer Hanson and Amy Salter; nieces, Alanta Hanson, Camden Salter (Marquell Evans), Destinee Hanson, and Heaven Salter-Marlin; nephews, Kayden Hanson, and Braxden Salter; his great-nephew, Blaze Hanson; and his paternal grandmother, Aileen Salter. He will be forever missed by many.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Albert and Elaine Dauenhauer; his paternal grandfather, John J. Salter; and cousin, Kaytlin Tibor.
