Phyllis Laverne (Simmons) Kemmet, 87, passed away on July 4, 2022, at St. Vincent’s Care Center in Bismarck.
Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 13, at United Church of Christ, 1200 E. Highland Acres Road, Bismarck.
Burial will follow at 2 p.m. at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan. She will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband Gordon.
Phyllis, the daughter of Henry and Amelia (Martel) Simmons, was born on June 29, 1935, in Medina, ND, and grew up there, graduating from Steele High School in 1953. She married Gordon H. Kemmet on October 17, 1953. They moved to Bismarck where they lived their entire married life.
Phyllis was employed by Bismarck Hospital/Medcenter One for many years. Although she was a great cook, Phyllis loved going out for dinner. She was an avid reader and enjoyed playing Bingo and games on her computer.
Phyllis is survived by her children, Cynthia (Scott) Williams, Ronald Kemmet, and Michelle Kemmet; adoring granddaughter, Avery (Matthew) Williams Eagan; and her great-granddaughter, Amelia Eagan. She also leaves behind one sister, Betty Ouellette; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon (2008); parents; brothers, Arlis and Charles Simmons; and sister, Rose Kenny.
