Obituary
Archie James Barnhardt, 81, Mandan, passed away Monday, July 11, 2022, at home under hospice care. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Saturday, July 16 at 10:30 AM at Spirit of Life Catholic Church in Mandan with Fr. Keith Streifel presiding. The funeral will be livestreamed on the Spirit of Life website. Burial will follow at Mandan Union Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday, July 15 from 5-6 PM with a Parish Rosary/Vigil beginning at 6 PM at Weigel Funeral Home in Mandan.
Archie was born April 26, 1941, in St. Vincent, ND to Jacob and Katherine (Sturn) Barnhardt. After school Archie worked and later started his own Drywall company. He continued working in the drywall business until his retirement.
In 1964, he married Fern Sturn and the couple made their home in Bismarck and later Mandan where they raised their two boys, Allen and Brian.
Archie loved playing poker and visiting with friends. He played in many tournaments including some in Las Vegas. A devoted and faithful husband, he and Fern enjoyed traveling to the Black Hills and white-water rafting adventures with the boys. Archie loved baseball and his Atlanta Braves.
Blessed to have shared his life are his two sons, Allen and Brian (Karla), both of Mandan, grandchildren, Nicole (Bobby) Browning, Mandan, Brandon (Brianna Lopez), Bismarck and Stormy Johnson, Bismarck and great-grandson, Robert Browning, his siblings, Jerry, Daryl, Deloris and Sandy along with numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Fern, and a sister Mercella.
