Obituary

Veronica Regina Schaner, 99, of Mandan, passed away June 22, 2022, at her home in Mandan.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, June 28, 2022, at Christ the King Catholic Church, Mandan, ND with Rev. Fred Harvey as celebrant. Burial will be at St. Pius Catholic Cemetery, New Salem.

Visitation will be held Monday, June 27, 2022, from 5:00-7:00 PM at Buehler Larson Funeral Home, Mandan, with a Rosary/Parish Vigil at 7:00 PM. Visitation will continue at the church one hour prior to the service on Tuesday.

Veronica Regina (Meuchel) Schaner was born on December 19, 1922, in the Judson, North Dakota, area to Fred and Barbara (Doll) Meuchel. She lived her entire life in Morton County. Veronica grew up on the family farm near Judson and attended rural schools. Veronica was baptized and confirmed at the Crown Butte Church.

On September 14, 1943, Veronica married Frank Schaner at St. Pius Catholic Church in New Salem. From this union of marriage Ronald and Larry were born. They lived on the farm for 15 years until moving to New Salem in 1962. In 2002, they moved to Mandan. Veronica and Frank celebrated 61 years of marriage before Frank’s death on February 24, 2005.

Veronica will be deeply missed by her son, Ronald of Mandan; three grandchildren, Lisa (Bryce) Petryszyn of Mandan, Scott (Theresa) Schaner of Beulah, and Jennifer Francisco of Bismarck; great grandchildren, Tyler (Tessa) Allan of Fargo, Seirra (Tristan) Austin of Idaho, McKenna Allan of Mandan, Trinity, Brady, Bentley, and Bodey Schaner of Beulah, and Delainey Lenoir of Bismarck; great great grandchild, Berlyn Felicity of Idaho; sister-in-law, Clara Schaner of New Salem, many nieces and nephews, and her favorite pups, Sadie and Lulu.

Veronica was preceded in death by her husband, Frank; son, Larry; daughter-in-law, Madonna Schaner; three sisters, Rose Nelson, Donna Mae Meuchel, and Ann Scow; brother, Frank Meuchel.
