Kristin Ann Tollefson, 57, Minot, died Saturday, June 11, 2022 at her residence.

Kristin was born on March 5, 1965 in Minot, ND the youngest child of Duane and Sharlene (Kenner) Tollefson. She attended Minot Public Schools and graduated from Minot High School in 1983. She had been involved in cheerleading, track, played the saxophone in jazz band and was a homecoming princess.  

Kristin then attended Concordia College in Moorhead, MN, where she graduated with a degree in Elementary Education. While in college, she was involved in theater and was in a couple of musicals.

Kristin’s favorite activity was waterskiing. She was a member of the Skinautiques at Lake Metigoshe and went on to ski professionally at Sea World in Orlando, FL. She also did some modeling in Orlando and has been in waterski magazines and advertisements. She was also featured in an advertisement for the Orlando Zoo. She loved being at Lake Metigoshe in the summers and especially loved her summers as a camp counselor at Lake Metigoshe Bible Camp.

Kristin taught at a Christian school in Bel Air, CA for a year before becoming a nanny for President Bush’s attorney in Washington DC. She then moved to Minneapolis, MN and taught there as a special education teacher. She was once married to Thomas Garvin and from this union two children were born, Keon and Elise. They were the joy of her life. She was very excited about the news of Keon and his wife, Claire expecting her first grandchild in October.

Kristin loved adventure, travel, and people. She had traveled to many places in the world and has met so many interesting people. She has never met a stranger and would love to sit and visit with anyone. She enjoyed being involved in Minnesota politics and had represented the state as Sergeant of Arms for the Minnesota Republican Party for a time.

Kristin had returned to Minot in 2018 to assist with the care of her parents. They have greatly appreciated the help and care she provided these past 4 years. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Her loving family includes, her children, Keon (Claire) Garvin, Denver, CO, Elise Garvin, Denver, CO; parents, Duane & Sharlene Tollefson, Minot; brother, Mark (Peggy) Tollefson, Minot; sister, Susan (Kevin) Mayo, Boise, ID; along with her nephews and niece, Jordan, Brandon & Kellen Tollefson and Cade & Karly Mayo.

Celebration of Life service: Friday, June 17, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. in Bethany Lutheran Church, Minot. To view a livestream of the service access https://bethanylutheran.tv/
Interment: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot.
Visitation: Friday, June 17th from Noon to 1:00 p.m. in the church.
Memorials: preferred to Bethany Lutheran Church, Lake Metigoshe Bible Camp or an organization of the donor’s choice.
