Hilbert Fredrick Martin, 88, passed away on May 12, 2022, at Sanford Hospital.  He was born and raised on the family farm in Tappen, ND.  He attended school in Tappen and graduated from Tappen High School.

Hilbert enjoyed his family, bowling and Bingo.  He had a lot of friends and enjoyed visiting with all of them.  He always had a wonderful smile and had a positive impact on the daycare children at his home and students at the schools where he worked.  He learned the values of hard work, faith and family and lived by and instilled these values in his daughters.

Hilbert had a variety of jobs before he was employed with Yegen Dairy for five years and 30 years later he retired from Land O’Lakes.  Shortly after retirement, he worked in janitorial services for Bismarck Public Schools.

Hilbert married Crystal (Nelson) in 1961.  They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary last fall with many family members and friends in attendance.

Hilbert is survived by his wife, Crystal; daughters, Sherry Richardson and Audrey Grosz; grandson, Brandon Lambert and great-granddaughter Mikayla Lambert.  He is also survived by sisters, Janice Hoff, Marilyn Lott, Cindy Carlson and brothers, Jim Martin and Donald Martin, and many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Anna Martin and sister, Lillian Wolf.

In lieu of flowers and in honor of Hilbert’s volunteer activities, memorials may be designated to Faith Lutheran Church Men’s Group (Bismarck) or Camp of the Cross Ministries (Garrison, ND).
