Mary L. (Lawlor) Dinyer peacefully passed away at home, surrounded by family, on March 3, 2022, in Highlands Ranch, CO.

A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. June 3, 2022, at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Pkwy, Bismarck.

Burial will take place at a later date in Denver, CO.

Mary was born November 24th, 1948, to John and Cleo (Evans) Lawlor, in Bismarck, ND. Mary was the second of six children. She was raised in Bismarck, attending St. Mary’s Grade and High Schools, and afterwards worked as a medical secretary for many years. Initially, her goal was to become a speech therapist, however, she was quite successful in her medical secretary and transcription practice.

Mary married George R. Dinyer (Mandan) on June 20, 1970, and was a great support to him as he attended medical school in Grand Forks, Chicago, and Madison, WI.  They went on to have 2 wonderful children, a son Garrett, and a daughter Laura.  Mary prided herself on raising her two children and supporting her family. The Bismarck community, schools; CHS and SMCHS, BSC (trustee), THEO Art School and Cathedral church of Bismarck, as well as various children’s activities benefited from her involvement and time. Mary was a member of the Junior Service League and PEO. The Bismarck Ronald McDonald House and Sleepy Hollow Theatre were some of Mary’s greatest achievements, helping to obtain funding and overseeing their creations.

After George retired from medical practice in Bismarck, they lived for a time in Palm Springs, CA and Red Lodge, MT, before settling in Denver, CO.  She and George enjoyed the mountains, several rounds of golf and many world travels. They also met plenty of fun people. Mary was a wonderful cook and enjoyed entertaining, traveling, spending time with her children and grandchildren, and playing the domino game, Train.

Mary is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Laura and Paraj Kayande of Calgary, Alberta; her son and daughter-in-law, Garrett and Bonnie Dinyer of Willits, CA; grandsons, Govind and Ashwin Kayande; sisters, Joan Nordstrom and Diane Lawlor of Bismarck; sister and brother-in-law, Nancy and Dave Snider of Denver; brother and sister-in-law, Dave and Penny Lawlor of San Diego; as well as two nieces, two nephews, two great-nephews and a great-niece.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and her sister, Susan.

As a memorial to Mary, please consider a donation to St. Joseph’s Indian School, Operation Smile, or the Ronald McDonald House of Bismarck. Condolences may be sent to the family at 5901 West Lehigh Ave. #11, Denver, CO 80235.

Mary would request that you keep this in mind and as a memory to her, “For God alone, O my soul, wait in silence, for my hope is from him. He only is my rock and my salvation, my fortress; I shall not be shaken. On God rests my salvation and my glory; my mighty rock, my refuge is God” – Psalm 62.5-12.
