Clarilyn Riedinger, 84 of Steele passed away May 10, 2022.

Visitation will be held Sunday, May 15, 2022, from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the Eastgate Steele Memorial Chapel. A prayer service will begin at 7:00 p.m.

A funeral service will be Monday, May 16, 2022, at 10:30 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, 203 Mitchell Ave S, Steele.

Clarilyn (Anderson) Riedinger, Bismarck, joined her husband, Alfonse, in heaven on May 10, 2022.

Clarilyn Opal Riedinger was born to Ole and Gladys (Hansen) Anderson on September 25, 1937, in Grafton, ND. She grew up on the family farm near Fairdale, ND. Clarilyn graduated from Fairdale High School and pursued her teaching degree at Valley City State University. Her first teaching job was in Steele, ND where she met her husband, Alfonse. They were married August 3, 1969, in Bethel Lutheran Church in Grand Forks, ND and built a life together in Steele.

Clarilyn and Alfonse were proud parents of their daughters, Kari and Kathi.  Clarilyn was a full-time teacher until the birth of Kathi. After the girls started school, she became certified to teach kindergarten. She taught for many years in Steele, Driscoll, Sterling, and proudly served as Kidder County Superintendent of Schools. During the summer months, Clarilyn enjoyed tutoring students. She retired due to health reasons in 1999.

Clarilyn enjoyed keeping busy by being involved in the Steele community. Her activities included Golden Manor Auxiliary, Trinity Lutheran Church, Kidder County Active Seniors, senior companion, Kidder County Ambulance, Silver Haired Legislature, Delta Kappa Gamma, Kidder County Homemakers.

Clarilyn and Alfonse were blessed with three grandchildren, Rachel, Matthew, and Samuel. She was proud of their accomplishments and loved them dearly. In her later years, she was blessed by having precious grand dogs, Buffy and Quincy.

Sadly, Alfonse passed away in January 2003. With a heavy heart, Clarilyn bravely moved forward in her life to find joy and happiness. On May Day 8 years ago, a sweet gentleman, Ralph Schroeder, presented at her doorstep with a May Day basket. Clarilyn and Ralph enjoyed Medora Musicals, Norsk Hostfest with Olive and Jim, dancing, playing cards, drinking “special drinks”, going to church, spending time with family, fishing, and yardwork.

Clarilyn was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and aunt. She will also be remembered for her unyielding faith and dedication to her Lord.

Clarilyn is survived by two daughters, Kari (Roger) Johnson, Rushville NE and Kathi Murray (Jeff DeWald), Pelican Rapids MN; grandchildren, Rachel and Matthew Johnson, Samuel Murray; her sister, Olive (James) Goldesberry; special nieces, Jodi (Joe) Drevlow, Jocelyn(Lee)Smith; special nephews, Jared Goldesberry and Jordan (Natasha) Goldesberry and grand-dogs, Buffy and Quincy. 

Clarilyn was preceded in death by her parents, Ole and Gladys Anderson; brother, Neil Anderson; special mother-in-law, Noam Goldesberry; husband, Alfonse Riedinger; niece, Laurimar Goldesberry; and special friend, Ralph Schroeder.
