Bruce Kaylor, 75, Velva, ND passed away Sunday, May 1, 2022, at his home in Mesa, Arizona.

Henry Bruce Kaylor was born April 16, 1947, in Minot, ND to Arthur and Sophia (Harms) Kaylor.  He attended school in Surrey and graduated from Wildrose High School in 1965.  He attended Lakeside Park Bible School in Ellendale, ND for one year on a football scholarship.  He then transferred to Minot State Teachers College and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in 1969.

Bruce was united in marriage to Susan (Swenson) Kaylor on August 21, 1971, at St. Leo’s Catholic Church in Minot. They lived in Havana, ND where Bruce taught and coached at Sargent Central Public School in Foreman, ND and worked as a custom crop sprayer during the summer.  They moved to Velva in 1975 and started R&K Contractors, Inc. in Minot where he worked as a general contractor until he retired in 2010.  In 1978 they moved to a farmstead near Granville where they raised their three children, Paula, Kathryn, and Darryl.  They later moved to Minot and then to their current home near Velva in 2014.

He was an active member in the Granville Community as a member of the Granville School Board, serving as president. He was a member of the Ashlar Lodge AF & AN and Order of the Eastern Star, Scottish Rite, KEM Shrine and Minot Shrine Merrymen.

Bruce had a passion for golf and served on the Minot Country Club Board.  He loved hunting, fishing, and spending time at their lake cabin and winter home in Mesa, Arizona. He enjoyed spending time with friends and family, especially his grandchildren sharing his hobbies with them.  Bruce also enjoyed playing whist, pinochle, and cribbage.

Bruce is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Susan, Velva; daughters Paula (Jonathon) Hussein, Cedar Rapids, IA and Kathy (Gary) Feist, Bismarck and son Darryl (Shelly) Kaylor, Minot; grandchildren Devin, Gabriel, and Jonas Lemke, Lauren, Sarah, and Brianna Feist; brothers Larry Kaylor (Edna Silva), Lyons, CO Kenneth (Bonnie) Kaylor, Van Hook, ND Rodney (Sharon) Kaylor, Velva and Ryan (Lila) Kaylor, Norwich, ND; sisters-in-law Ruth Lucas, Bellefonte, PA Carol (Jim) Gorde, Clive, IA Rose-Mary (Kerry) Lueders, Baytown, TX Amy Swenson (Kevin McGurren) , Grand Forks, ND; brothers-in-law Edward Swenson, Seabrook, TX Steven (Wendy) Swenson, Grand Forks, ND David (Lori) Swenson, Fargo, ND and Jim (Shelley) Swenson, Otsego, MN along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Bruce was preceded in death by his parents, sister Karen Clearman, and sister-in-law Kristina Bye.

Mass of Christian Burial: Friday, May 13, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. in St. Cecilia Catholic Church, Velva.
