Livona ‘Vonnie’ Dehnke, 85, Minot and Logan, ND died Monday, April 25, 2022, in a Minot hospital.

Livona was born February 16, 1937 in Riverton, Wyoming to John and Eulie (Winemiller) Sanders. She called Wyoming home until her senior year when she moved with her family to Pleasanton, California near San Francisco, completing high school in 1956.

Vonnie moved to Williston, ND to be near her sister Fern. She worked in the office for the local Ag Extension Agency. She met the love of her Life Gordon Dehnke in March 1960.  They were united in marriage on July 9, 1960 at First Presbyterian Church in Minot.  They called the Minot area home for the rest of their lives and were blessed with three children.

In 1983 alongside Gordon, she helped establish the family business Allstate Tower. But her most important job was ‘Mom.’

Vonnie spent most of her life as a mother. First to her children, watching them grow and supporting all their activities and successes. Next to her children’s friends, providing support and advice when needed. She added grandmother to her title soon after, loving in only the way grandma can without condition. Last came all those in need; she loved unconditionally but would not hesitate to provide you with some guidance if you needed, often delivered with a smile and a side look to make sure you understood her opinion.

She was a member of Cornerstone Presbyterian Church, Minot.  She enjoyed summer trips spent as a family, usually around work and Christmas in Canada with Gordon’s family. Gardening and sewing also filled her days. Vonnie loved the trips to Georgia to visit her girls enjoying the sunshine, conversation and her granddaughters.

Vonnie was one of a kind and will be missed deeply by all who were blessed to share in her life.

Vonnie is survived by her daughters Janet (Paul) Franz and Lynda Dehnke, both of Roswell, Georgia; granddaughters Page Franz and Julia Franz; sister Fern Emmons, Windom, MN along with many friends.

Vonnie was preceded in death by her parents, husband Gordon in 2014, son Michael, granddaughter Elizabeth and siblings Elna Weston, Eldon Sanders, JD Sanders and an infant sister Patty.
