Ruth Moe, 88, Minot and formerly of rural Foxholm died on Monday, March 7, 2022 in a Minot assisted living facility.
Ruth Virginia Banna was born on December 25, 1933 in Cooperstown, ND to Joseph and Emma (Stephenson) Banna. She and her five siblings were raised by her mother’s sister and her husband, Helen and Thorvald Greslivold. She was raised and educated in Surrey and Minot and graduated from Minot High School in 1953. As a young adult she was employed at Woolworth’s Department Store as a salesclerk.
Ruth married Raymond Moe on January 6, 1957 in Minot. They made their home on the Moe family farm in Mayland Township of Ward County near Foxholm where they raised small grains and cattle and reared their three adopted children. They retired from farming in 1984 and moved to Minot in 1986 where Ruth was employed at the Minot YMCA as a childcare provider until her retirement in 1994. Raymond died on November 4, 2009. Ruth had continued to reside in Minot most recently at 2528 2nd Ave. S.W. and at Pro Health Assisted Living.
Ruth was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church – Minot and a former member of the Carpio Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday school. Also, she was a member of the Women of the Moose and served as a youth leader for the North Dakota Farmer’s Union Association and 4-H. She especially enjoyed cooking and baking, crocheting, fishing, spending time outdoors and playing pinochle.
Ruth’s loving family includes her children: Mark Moe and Wayne (Raelene) Moe all of Minot and Patricia (Tom) Monilaws of Absaraka, ND; grandchildren: Matthew Peterson and Megan (Drew) Nicklay; great grandson: Hunter Ray Nicklay; sister-in-law: Ione Banna and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, husband, siblings: Miriam Valentine, Monver Banna, Lila Roggenbuck, Russell Banna and Richard Banna and 2 infant brothers.
Celebration of the Life of Ruth Moe: Saturday, March 12, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. in Bethany Lutheran Church, Minot. A livestream will be available by accessing https://bethanylutheran.tv/
Interment will be in Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot.
Visitation: Friday from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home – Minot.
Memorials are preferred to Bethany Lutheran Church, Minot.
