Avanell Polsfut
August 9, 1928 – March 2, 2022
Avanell Polsfut, 93, Minot, formerly of Benedict, died on Wednesday, March 2, 2022, at a Minot nursing home. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 12th, 2022, at 1:30 pm at Concordia Lutheran Church in Benedict. Burial will be held in the spring at Bethania Lutheran Cemetery in Benedict.
Visitation will be held on Saturday the 12th from 11 until the time of services.
Avanell was born on August 9, 1928 at Columbus, ND, the daughter of Alvin and Olivia Skramstad. She married Herman Polsfut, February 16,1947. They were married 48 years and raised seven children.
Avanell worked at Elsie’s Cafe in ND and Johnson Regional Medical Center in Arkansas.
Avanell returned to ND, after living over 20 years in Arkansas, where she always felt was her home. Avanell dedicated her life to serving in the church by joining Ladies Aid, sewing many quilts, and helping with other fund raisers.
Avanell enjoyed sewing for others, playing cards, puzzles, baking, and spending time with family and friends.
She was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church.
Avanell is survived by her children, Elaine Milentis, Santa Monica, CA, Hazel Rouse, Owasso, OK, June (Bob) Bernatchez, Thorton, CO, Donnie (Karen) Polsfut, Max, ND, Gloria (Earl) Eskelson, Minot, ND, and Arlin (Kris) Polsfut, Mandan, ND; brother, Lyle (Anita) Skramstad, LaJunta, CO; 14 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; and 2 great great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Herman, daughter, Deanna, granddaughter, Teresa, brother and sister-in-law, Harold and Lila Skramstad, sister and brother-in-law, Verdene and Marlow Zook, and many aunts and uncles.
