Obituary

Leo Wetsch, 92, passed away on Monday, February 28, 2022 at Missouri Slope in Bismarck.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM Thursday, March 3, 2022, at Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Bismarck. Burial will follow at Mandan Union Cemetery.

Visitation will be held 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Wednesday with a 7:00 PM Parish Rosary/Vigil at Buehler-Larson Funeral Home in Mandan.

Leo was born on October 5, 1929 in rural Morton County to Mike and Eva (Bullinger) Wetsch. He grew up on the farm and received his education at St. Anthony parochial and public schools. He was a lifelong resident of Morton County.

Leo married Eleanor Hopfauf at the St. Joseph Church in Mandan on June 8, 1953 and went on to move to Mandan up until more recently moving to Bismarck. Leo and Eleanor raised nine children together. He worked in the lumber yard business all his life, owning Town & Country Lumber successfully for 20 years. He was active in the Knights of Columbus, Lions, and Chamber of Commerce.

Leo is survived by his wife, Eleanor Wetsch; children, Cindy (David) Hilling, Gary Wetsch (Roxanne Jacobson), Sandy Sutton (Jose Chapa), Sherry Wetsch, Ronald Wetsch, Robert Wetsch, Richard Wetsch (Robin Oxley), Chrissy Berger (Doug Kocher), and Rodney Wetsch; sister, Bernice Kuntz; brother, Arnold Wetsch; 15 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mike and Eva Wetsch; and sisters, Lorraine Wetsch and Irene Monzelowsky.
