Bernice P. (Gefre) Famias, 84 passed away on Monday, February 21, 2022.  Mass of Christian Burial will be on Friday, February 25, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at Church of St. Anne.  For those not attending, the service will be livestreamed on the Bismarck Funeral Home Facebook page.  Visitation will be on Thursday, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Bismarck Funeral Home with a Rosary service at 7:00 p.m.  Interment will be at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan.

Bernice was born in Aberdeen, SD on August 19, 1937, to John and Katherine (Daschel) Gefre.  She married James L. Famias of Aberdeen, SD in 1961 and they were married for 56 years.  Bernice was a member of St. Anne’s Church for 52 years.  Bernice worked at St. Alexius for over 30 years in the Respiratory Therapist and Nursing Schools as a secretary.

Bernice enjoyed going to her children and grandchildren’s athletic events.  She volunteered at the Seeds of Hope, Meals on Wheels, and various church functions.  Bernice got great enjoyment in taking care of her flower gardens.

Bernice is survived by her children, Lori Famias-Hager, Grand Rapids, MI, sons, David (Tracy) Famias, Bismarck, and Steve (Gail Baranko-Famias) Maple Grove, MN; grandchildren, Kenneth (Fiance’ Megan Harding) Hager, Ryan (Alayna) Hager, Travis, Ashley, and Tyler Famias and Brandon Famias.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James (Buzz) L. Famias, her parents, brothers and sisters-in-law, Albert (Rosalynn) Gefre, Edward (Marilyn) Gefre, and sister and brother-in-law Marianne (Robert) Preston.
