Helen Weichel 93, Bismarck, died on February 23, 2022, at St. Alexius Medical Center, Bismarck.

Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, March 1, at Pro-Cathedral of St. Mary, 806 E. Broadway Ave, Bismarck. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday evening with a rosary/vigil service starting at 7 at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway, Bismarck. Interment at St. Mary’s Cemetery.

Helen was born on May 9, 1928 in McIntosh County, the daughter of Frank and Mary (Marquart) Schumacher. Helen grew up and attended school in Napoleon. She married Carl Weichel on November 16, 1948. Helen and Carl moved to Bismarck in December of 1958. She worked at the Super Valu store and Eddie’s Bakery, before starting her own house painting business.

Helen played cards, mostly pinochle, and would teach her kids how to play. She had a garden every year and would can pickles. She quilted blankets for her family and loved to play penny bingo at the senior center.

Helen is survived by her 11 children, Gwen (Mike) Brady, Mandan, Charles (friend Sally Wolf), Bismarck, Mike, Bismarck, Dennis (Josie), Bismarck, Gordon, Bismarck, Glenda, Bismarck, Robert (Lola), Bismarck, Mark (Marlys) Bismarck, Byron (Anna, friend), Wisconsin, Richard (Melanie), San Antonio, TX, and Marlin (Barbara), San Antonio, TX.

She is also survived by her many grandchildren: Keith (Margaret) Lee & Jay Brady, Justin (Erin) & Corey Weichel, Stacey & Dion (Jenny) Weichel, Sheila (Corey) Kraft, Chance (Starlee) & Colby Hofland, David, Amanda & Nick Hopkins, Ashley, Tyler (Shae) & Jordan Weichel, Brittany, Brent. Brady, Brendan, Dakota Weichel, Chelsea & Matthew Weichel, Trevor & Trent Weichel; great-grandchildren, Christopher & Megan Brady, Dillon & Asher Weichel, Alexis, Amber & Declyn (great-great) (Kraft). Kennadie & Kaden Schumacher, Sierra & Savannah Sindetson, David, stepdaughter, Traelynn, Jax Weichel, Bella Saahir, Evajean and Helena Weichel; her brother-in-law, Tony Weichel Bismarck and sister-in-law, Joan Weichel Prescott, AL.

Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Weichel as well as her parents, brothers and sisters.

The family asks that you refrain from wearing any type of perfume or aftershave to the visitation or service due to severe allergies.
