Richard “Dick” Ronald Rosendahl, 79, Minot, formerly of Westhope, died Thursday, February 24, 2022 at his home surrounded by his loving family and hospice.

Dick was born on July 23, 1942 in Westhope, ND, the son of Myrtle (Hulse) Rosendahl Borsheim and step-dad Roy Borsheim. He was raised and educated at Westhope and graduated from Westhope High School in 1960. He entered into active duty service with the US Army and honorably served his country during the Berlin Crisis from 1960-1962.

Dick returned to North Dakota and was united in marriage to Lois Hunskor on December 31, 1960 in Westhope. Throughout the years he worked for as a tool pusher for Cardinal Drilling in the Westhope area and later in Alaska for Peak Oilfield Services as a fuel hauler. The lived primarily in Westhope before eventually settling in Minot. After retiring they would spend winter months in Yuma, AZ.

Dick’s loving family includes: his wife of 61 years, Lois; children, Brian (Judy) Rosendahl, Bismarck, Brent (Terri) Rosendahl, Fargo, Becky (John) Blada, Minot and Brenden “BJ” Rosendahl, Minot; 6 grandchildren to include: Jennifer (Josh) Ritter, Samantha (Mark) Dombro, Blaine Rosendahl, Devin (Brittany)  Blada, Theandra (Cole) Holter and Makayla (Seth) Ziegler; 7 great grandchildren to include Easton and Brooks Eggert, Jace Ritter, Max Dombro, Ryker and Rylan Blada, MaKenna Rosendahl and baby Holter due in September; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Dick was preceded in death by his parents, an infant son; brother, Garney (Janice) Rosendahl, sister, Beverly (Ken) Grainger; mother and father-in-law, Ervin and Viola Hunskor; brother-in-law, Tony Berentson.

Celebration of Life service: Monday, February 28, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. in Christ Lutheran Church, Minot. A livestream of the service will be available by accessing https://vimeo.com/event/1888327
Interment: Westhope Cemetery, Westhope, ND later in the Spring of 2022.
Visitation: Sunday, February 27th from 1:00-3:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
Memorials: In lieu of flowers or plants, memorials are preferred to the Westhope or Newburg Cemetery.
