Elizabeth ‘Betty’ Larson

Elizabeth I. ‘Betty’ Larson, 88, Grand Forks, formerly of Minot, passed away Saturday, 26 February 2022, in a Grand Forks Hospital.

Elizabeth was born 27 February 1933, in Devils Lake, ND to George and Rose (Meier) Thomas. She attended country elementary schools near Wolford and graduated from Knox High School in 1950.

Betty was united in marriage to Lawerance Larson on 28 June 1950. They lived in Anamoose, ND while he served as manager of the elevator for 25 years and she worked as a bookkeeper in Drake, ND at Farmer’s Elevator and Cargill. They moved to Minot in 1986 and Grand Forks in 2015 to be closer to family.

Betty was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Grand Forks and a former member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, Minot and St. Xavier Catholic Church, Anamoose. She taught CCD and was a member of the church circle for many years as a member of St. Xavier.

She played accordion, went bowling, loved to read and was an avid NBA basketball fan. She and Lawerance enjoyed traveling, time with their grandchildren, socializing with friends, and spending an evening at the local Eagles.

Betty’s loving family includes children Leonard (Colleen) Larson, Grand Forks, ND, Marlin (Roxanne) Larson, Stanton, ND, Delwyn Larson, Hankinson, ND and Laurn (Diana) Larson, Grand Forks, ND; six grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren; sister Eleanor Tofte, Devils Lake, ND along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, husband Lawerance on 10 April 2021, and sister Catherine Stensby.

Celebration of Betty’s Life will occur at 12:30pm 31 March 2022, followed by a luncheon at the Holy Family Catholic Church, Grand Forks, ND.
A public graveside service at the Resurrection Cemetery, East Grand Forks, MN will follow the service.
Memorials are preferred to Holy Family Grade School Scholarship Fund.
