David and Sheryl Stradinger were blessed with the birth of Nicole on August 28, 1985. Nicole spent the first nine months of her life in the NICU at St. Alexius Medical Center, then four years and three days in St. Vincent’s Nursing Home. A team of medical professionals from St. Alexius Home Health made it possible for Nicole to finally come home to start her life with her family, extended family, and friends within her community.
Nicole attended BECEP, Northridge Elementary (at one time being able to bring a calf for show and share), Century High School, and went on to Life Ed. She worked with the story hour at Barnes and Noble, followed by a time working at HIT helping to prepare takeout meals until her health no longer allowed her to work.
Nicole was a social butterfly and loved to be in the middle of any event. Her ever present smile and effervescent spirit could fill a room, never letting her challenges get in the way of enjoying her life. Her blocks and Ken dolls were always at her side. She loved music, from Yanni to Kenny Rogers – Tchaikovsky to Heart. Her favorite activity, with her Mom, Aunts and friends, was watching Karaoke. She proved to be quite the judge – our own Simon Cowell. She loved to be at her Dad’s side helping with projects around the house. Nicole’s younger sister Heather was the light of her days, although she loved to pester her when presented with the opportunity.
The nurses from Home Health, the caregivers from Easter Seals, then Community Options became her extended family. These wonderful people enhanced and helped Nicole to enjoy and live her life to the maximum and to stay in her home. Nicole and her family developed many long-term friendships over the years. A special thank you goes to all the special people that came to our home. A special thanks out to the nurses, doctors, respiratory therapists, phlebotomists, to housekeeping that made her countless hospital visits as comfortable as a hospital stay can be. The doctors, nurses, and front desk clerks at Mid Dakota were also amazing. Thank you.
She is survived by her parents, Dave and Sheryl; sister, Heather; many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Nicole was preceded in death by her great-grandparents, William and Emily Kadrmas and William and Margaret Adams; her grandparents, Walter and Jean Christensen and Harold and Geneva Stradinger; Uncle, Scott Dean and cousins, Jacob Brown and Sarah Stradinger.
