Durant Lee Schiermeister, 65, Hazelton, crossed the finish line into heaven on May 11, 2021. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, May 15 at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church, 1615 N 18th St., Bismarck. A livestream will be available at this link: https://youtu.be/db6a7c4otXk

Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Pkwy, Bismarck. A prayer service will be held at 7 p.m.

Burial will be held 2 p.m. at Glencoe Cemetery.

Durant was born on April 8, 1956 to Leo and Dorinda (Lindeman) Schiermeister.

Durant was raised on the family farm near Hazelton. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Hazelton and a member of Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Bismarck.

He graduated from Hazelton High School in 1975. Durant was a third-generation farmer along the Missouri River. His passions were farming, irrigation projects, fast cars, motorcycles and boats and later in life, horses.

Durant was united in marriage to the love of his life, Sharon Ray, in 1984. Durant and Sharon traveled to many places including the mountains in Montana, Black Hills in South Dakota and the beaches of Hawaii, making many life-long memories and friends.

He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Sharon; parents, Leo and Dorinda Schiermeister; sisters, Carla (Rob) Lein and Shelly Foell; brother and sister-in-law, Jerry (Jeanine) Ray and Nancy (Butch) Glass; nieces, Jana (Kelly) Hart and Jamie (Colin) Carpenter; nephews, Nathan Scherr and Joshua (Evonne) Ray; and great-nieces and nephews, Mason, Madison, Sam, Ava, Travis Bodhi, Kale and Lukas.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, mother and father-in-law, Donald and Beverly Ray; brother-in-law, Clayton Foell; and niece Shaunda Glass.
