Marcella “Sally” Geiger Bernhardt, 89, Bismarck, passed away on February 16, 2022, at St. Gabriel’s Community.

Mass of Christian Burial will be on Tuesday, February 22, 2022, at 12:30 p.m. at Cathedral of the Holy Spirit.  Burial will be held at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Bismarck. A livestream of the service will be available on the Cathedral of the Holy Spirit website.

Visitation will be on Monday, Feb. 21, from 5-7 p.m. at the Bismarck Funeral Home with a Rosary service at 7:00 p.m. held by the Catholic Daughters.

Sally was born on May 29, 1932, in Ft. Yates, ND to George and Christine (Schweitzer) Geiger.  The family later moved to McKenzie, ND.  Sally graduated from St. Mary’s Central High School.

Sally was united in marriage to N.V. “Barney” Bernhardt in June of 1956.  Barney passed away on March 7, 1992.  Sally was employed by Conrad Publishing Co. and United Printing Inc.  Sally’s faith, family and friends were very important to her.  She loved playing cards especially Pinochle, Bunco, traveling and working in her yard and flower garden.  She volunteered for St. Alexius, RSVP, and was a member of the Catholic daughters, Elks, University of Mary Presidents Club, and the Red Hatters.

Sally is survived by her sisters, Helen (Tom) Moch, Fran (Al) Schoonover, Jane (John) Barnes; and sister-in-law, Angie (Ed) Geiger and several nieces and nephews.

Sally was preceded in death by her husband, Barney; her parents, George and Christine, in laws, Alex and Julia, brothers, Jim, Ed, sister, Patricia, brothers-in-law, Al Schoonover, John Barnes and Tom Moch, sister-in-law, Margie Geiger.

In lieu of plants and flowers, memorials are preferred to the St. Mary’s Academy – Light of Christ Catholic Schools.
