Duane T. Roller, 74, Belfield, died Thursday, February 10, 2022 at his home. Duane’s Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m., Friday, February 18, 2022 at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Belfield with Fr. Shane Campbell as celebrant. Inurnment will take place at St. Bernard’s Cemetery. Visitation will be on Thursday from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Ladbury Funeral Service with a Rosary and Vigil Service to follow at 6 p.m. with Deacon Loren Kordonowy presiding. Visitation will continue one hour prior to service at the church on Friday.
Duane was born on February 28, 1947 in Dickinson, the son of Louie and Balbina (Huschka) Roller. Duane was raised and educated in Belfield and attended Belfield High School. He married Charlotte Berger on June 21, 1971 in Hebron. Duane and his family served at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church for many years. He was an usher, provided snow removal and mowing as well as serving as a custodian for St. Bernard’s School.
Duane was a jack-of-all-trades. No job was too difficult. Over the years, he worked for the City of Belfield and Stark County. He owned and ran the bowling alley in Belfield for three years and drove the Napa truck for more than 20 years. He was also a skilled mechanic. He hauled grain at harvest time, operated a mowing service, and worked at Tom’s and Exit 10 service stations.
Duane loved playing basketball with his kids and attending the parade in Belfield yearly. He enjoyed bowling, softball, and playing cribbage and cards. He was an accomplished leatherworker and woodworker. Duane will always be remembered as a generous and caring individual.
Duane is survived by his wife of 50 years, Charlotte; his children, Jody Roller, Belfield, Julie (Ron) Begger, Dickinson, and Jamie Duane Roller, Williston; his grandchildren, Dustin and Dolton Begger, and Raylynn Roller; his sisters, Bernice (Mayland) Arrington, Fargo; Mary Lou (Leo) Schneider, Belfield; Georgian (Ray) Heck, Belfield; Elaine Roller, Belfield; Sharon Decker, Belfield; Ida Wyatt, Dickinson; his brothers, Edward (Brenda) Roller, Belfield; Alan Roller, Belfield; Leroy (JoLynn) Roller, Belfield; Ralph (Mary) Roller, Pick City; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; infant sister, Carolee Roller; and brother-in-law, Casey Decker.
