Donna Mae Schmidt, 89, Minot, died Sunday, February 13, 2022 in a Minot Hospital.

Donna was born August 5, 1932 in Garrison, North Dakota, the daughter of Emil and Louise (Boger) Schmidtgall. She was raised and educated at Garrison and graduated from Garrison High School in 1950.

Donna was united in marriage to Elroy Schmidt on January 14, 1956 at the Congregational Church in Garrison. While Elroy was employed with Northwestern Bell, they made their home in various North Dakota communities, which included: Crosby, Rugby, Sawyer, Max and Harvey before settling in Minot.

Donna’s greatest accomplishment was being a supportive wife and a wonderful mother to her 4 daughters.  She was a loving grandmother and great grandmother.  She was employed at Magic City Campus as a library aide.

Donna was a longtime member of Christ Lutheran Church in Minot.  She loved to sing and play the piano. She enjoyed camping and fishing at Lake Sakakawea during the summer months, along with tending to her garden and flowers, especially her moss roses. She was well known by family for her baking skills, especially her breads and buns. She loved to sew, cross-stitch and enjoyed watching and feeding birds in her backyard. She especially liked feeding raisins to her Robins. She will be deeply missed by her family.

Donna is survived by her: daughters, Denise (Blaine) Rubbelke, Des Lacs, ND, Diane (Don) Jelinek, Fargo, ND, Sandra Schmidt, Minot and Susan (Paul) Cole, Lowell, Arkansas; 5 grandchildren: Jennifer (Simon) Warnos, Chad (Emily) Rubbelke, Lindsey (Jim) Boshears, Megan (Chad) Thomas & Ethan Cole; 4 great grandchildren: Baron Warnos, Leona Warnos, Eleanor Mae Rubbelke and Paul Thomas; sisters-in-law: Delilah Schmidtgall, JoAnn (Elloide) Marschall and Eloise Krueger; brother-in-law, Jim (Sharon) Schmidt and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Donna was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Elroy who passed January 1, 2002, brothers, Clayton and William, sister, Arlene and a niece Julie McMahon.

The family would like to thank all the staff on the 4th floor at Trinity for the care and compassion they showed our mother.
