Obituary

Gertrude Voegele, 95, of Mandan, ND died January 6, 2022 at a Mandan care center.

 

A funeral service will be held 1:00 PM Thursday, Jan. 13th at First Lutheran Church in Mandan with Pastor Phil Leer officiating.  Burial will follow in the Mandan Union Cemetery.

 

Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM to 7:30 PM Wednesday at Buehler-Larson Funeral Home with a 7:30 PM Prayer Service.

 

Gertrude “Gertie” was born July 22, 1926 in Beulah, ND to John & Rosina (Voegele) Flemmer.  Gertie married Gustof Voegele on May 15, 1945 in Beulah.  She worked at Galloway’s Super Valu in Beulah for several years.  Gertie and Gus moved to Mandan in 1955 and together they built and lived in 3 different homes north of Mandan.  They were blessed with four awesome children, Betty, Duane, Alice, & Nancy.  Gertie worked at Ben Franklin, Marv’s Hardware, Midway Tavern, the Mandan Elks, and the Mandan Eagles Club.  She worked as blackjack dealer for many years.  Gertie retired when she was 90 years young, celebrating her 90th birthday and retirement party at the same time!  She loved watching the Minnesota Twins, cooking, gambling, and spending time with family and friends.

 

Gertie is survived by her children, Betty (Myron) Lapp of Bismarck, Duane (Carol) Voegele of Bismarck, and Nancy (Steve) Conmy of Mandan;  six grandchildren, Tammy Lapp-Harris (Lanny), Troy Lapp (Melinda), Tonya Voegele, Michelle Stoxen (Kody), Sarah Conmy, & Sean Conmy;  and six great-grandchildren, Jaylee, Addison, John, Matthew, Natalie, & Evelyn.

 

She was preceded in death by her husband (Gustof), daughter (Alice Baer), sister & brother-in-law (Ervin & Bertha Boeckel), and brother (Donald Flemmer).
