Tony J. Rebel, 91, Richardton, died on Thursday, January 6, 2022 at Trinity Health, Minot. Tony’s Mass of Christian Burial will be at 9:30 a.m., Friday, January 14, 2022 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Richardton with Fr. Thomas Wordekemper, OSB as celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Stephen’s Cemetery, Richardton. Visitation will be on Thursday from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson with a rosary and vigil at 6 p.m. with Deacon Robert Bohn presiding. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.

Tony J. Rebel was born on July 30, 1930 at the Rebel Homestead south of Richardton, the son of Anton and Katherine (Goetz) Rebel. He was raised and educated in the Richardton area.

Tony was united in marriage to Lorraine M. Portscheller on June 26, 1950 at St. Stephen’s Catholic Church south of Richardton. Together they farmed, ranched and raised their family on the Rebel Family Farm.

He belonged to the Eagles Club and Kirvie Dance Club. He loved to play cards, play softball and dance. He enjoyed old time music and Sunday visits with family. He also enjoyed milking cows and everything to do with farming and ranching.

Tony is survived by his ten children, Randy (Alvina) Rebel, Meridian, Idaho, Cindy Dohrmann, Taylor, Charlotte (Julian) Zimmerman, Richardton, Brenda Rebel, Richardton, Russ (LaVonne) Rebel, Hebron, Rick (Susan) Rebel, Taylor, Rob (Brenda) Rebel, Sartell, Minn., Rodney Rebel, Richardton, Sonya Rebel (Kevin Wood) Bismarck, and Rory (Robyn) Rebel, Taylor; 20 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; two siblings, Betty Kurtz, Sacramento, CA and Eleanor (Clifford) Walter, Dickinson; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lorraine; his parents; son-in-law, Russell Dohrmann; brothers, Matt, Nick and Joe; sisters, Eva, Katherine, Marie and Helen.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the St. Stephen’s Cemetery Fund.
