Della Neshem died at home in Minot, North Dakota on December 9, 2021, after a long illness.

Della was born on April 20, 1937 in McClusky, ND to Edward and Ruth (Bonnet) Derheim. She moved to Wilton and Coleharbor as a young girl, and to Minot as a teenager where she worked as a waitress at Charlie’s cafe and Beaver Palace.

Della met the love of her life, C. Eddie Neshem, in church in the summer of 1956, and they married soon after on November 15, 1956, in Minot, ND. They moved to Tacoma, WA after they married, and also lived on a ranch near Hillside, AZ before moving back to Minot, in 1974.

Della enjoyed singing gospel music with her three sisters, performing at church and nursing homes, and family reunions. They jokingly called themselves the Coal Miner’s Daughters, since their father had worked in the coal mines when they were growing up. Della accompanied her siblings on the guitar, playing chords on her Fender Stratocaster.

She liked playing cards with her family, and was a ruthless Skip-Bo player.  She also spent many weekends camping and fishing with her family at Lake Sakakawea.

Della was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Faith was an essential part of her life, and though she was humble and had a servant’s heart, she was a powerful prayer warrior, spending many hours in prayer for her loved ones.

Della is survived by her husband, Eddie, Minot; daughter, Brenda (John) Lucas, Larkspur, CO; son, Brian (Annette) Neshem, Surrey, ND; son-in-law Carl Schaller, Minot; sister Betty (Ken) Huwe, Minot; sister Janice (Fred) Faul, Minot; sister Diane LeClair, Minot; brother Robert (Diane) Derheim, Escanaba, MI; six grandchildren, Nathan (Johnalyn) Neshem, Cathedral City, CA; Justin (Ambria) Neshem, Bismarck, ND; Nicholas (Jenifer) Casale, Colorado Springs, CO; Brittany (Cory) Michels, Fargo, ND; Angela Casale, Miami, FL; Taylor Neshem, Minot;  six great-grandchildren, Jameis, Julian and Emma Michels; Ryker, Slade and Evianna Neshem; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her daughter Debra Schaller; brothers Melford Derheim and Delmer Derheim; parents Ed and Ruth Derheim.
