Carol Stolt, 81, Minot and longtime Minot teacher, died Sunday, December 12, 2021, in her home. 

Carol Mardean was born on August 28, 1940, in Minot, ND to Kendell and Grace (Dwyer) Olson. She spent her early childhood in Bozeman, MT until the family moved to Minot in 1953. Carol graduated from Minot High School in 1958 and continued her education at Minot State Teacher’s College where she earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education and Social Work in 1962. Carol began her career as an educator in Brainerd, MN as a teacher at Brainerd Junior High School for two years.

Carol married Harold Stolt on June 7, 1964, at the Evangelical United Brethren Church (now known as Faith United Methodist Church) in Minot. They made their home in Minot where Carol worked as an educator for the Minot Public Schools at Perkett and Bel Air Elementary Schools until embracing her role as a mother for the next 18 years of her life. She returned to education in 1996 working at Roosevelt for three years and Northern Plains Elementary until retiring in 2001.

Carol was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church, Minot, where she was active in church choir, taught Sunday School and served on the worship committee. Carol was a member of both the North Dakota and Minnesota Educator’s Association, Association of Teacher Educators (ATE) and also held positions on the State Reading and State Math Examining Boards during her tenure in education. Carol was a member of Kappa Delta Pi, Minot Area Retired Teachers Association (MARTA), Delta Kappa Gamma and was also a member of “Friends of The Library” in Minot, ND.

Carol enjoyed reading, traveling with her husband and passed the time cross stitching.

Carol is survived by her daughter Elizabeth Stolt, Minneapolis; grandchildren: Katherine and Jackson; brother-in-law Bruce (Diane) Walker, Minot along with and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents, husband Dr. Harold Stolt and sisters Marilyn (Floyd) Brehm and Val Ann Walker and brother-in-law Max (Joanne) Stolt and sister-in-law Alice Ziesmer.

Celebration of the Life of Carol Stolt: 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 22, 2021 at Bethany Lutheran Church – Minot. A livestream of the service is available by accessing https://bethanylutheran.tv/
Interment will be in Rosehill Memorial Park – Minot.
Visitation: Tuesday, December 21, 2021 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home – Minot.
Memorials are preferred to the Bethany Lutheran Church Music Fund, Minot Public School Foundation or to the donor’s choice.
