Rita Rae Christianson, 73, Minot, died Saturday, December 11, 2021, in a Minot Hospital.
Rita was born a leap year baby on February 29, 1948, in Williston, the daughter of Richard and Delceille (White) Anderson. She was raised and educated at Ray, prior to the family moving to Missoula, MT and then to Minot. She graduated from Minot High School in 1966 and later Trinity School of Radiology, where she received a degree in X-Ray technology. She once married James Herzig with whom they shared three sons Tom, Tim, and Terry.
Rita was united in marriage to Gilbert Christianson on August 19, 1988 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Glenburn. They made their home on a farm outside of Glenburn. They had a daughter, Anita. Rita was employed at Trinity Medical Center with Dr. Uthus at Orthopedic Associates until she retired in 2010. Following retirement, Rita and Gilbert relocated to Minot, ND. Rita was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Glenburn; Our Redeemer’s Lutheran Brethren Church, Minot; Minot Eagles Aerie; Sons of Norway; and Horticultural Club. She treasured her family and proudly boasted the title Grandma. Rita enjoyed caring for her family, crafting with the grandkids, and gathering with friends for coffee and bingo. She also enjoyed reading, camping, fishing, rosemaling, and gardening. She received numerous awards for her love of baking and shared her treats with all just to brighten their day.
Her loving family includes, husband Gilbert of Minot; children Tom (Trish) Herzig, Jamestown, Tim (Desiree) Herzig of Minot, Terry (Melissa) Herzig of Lakeville, MN, and Anita (Rob) Klenner of Edmond, OK; grandchildren Kutter, Kamden, Addison, Collin, Christian, Kate, and Ella and step-mother, Marge Anderson, Minot along with numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Celebration of Life service: Friday, December 17, 2021 at 1:00 p.m.in Our Redeemers Church, Minot.
Interment: Veterans Section of Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot.
Visitation: Thursday, December 16th from 7:00 -9:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
Memorials: In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials be designated to Our Redeemers Church, the ND Heart Association or a Veterans Organization.
