Bonnie was born with a love of horses on October 25, 1941, to Neil and Lois (Robinson) Burns. As a child she was a snowbird living between North Dakota and Arizona. In college, she attended to floral design and accounting classes. She married and had Robin and Dawn. Then married her true love Bob and had Neil. She created her own authentic Arabian costumes. She was a member of the Arabian Horse Association for more than 50 years and her farm became an Arabian Horse Association discovery farm. She was a brilliant businesswoman selling horses through phone conversations. Bonnie and Bob successfully ran her business for over 50 years, raising 100s of horses and selling them to all 50 states, Canada and Mexico. They specialized in black Arabians and some of her horses were movie related.

Bonnie was the first female member of the FFA in Arizona. She was a member of the First Congregational Church in Garrison and TCN Circle. She loved gardening, Pizza Hut and a good hamburger.
