Joan Corinth Simonson, 84, Minot, died Friday, December 3, 2021 in a Minot Assisted Living Center.

Joan was born March 22, 1937 at Rugby, North Dakota the daughter of Carl and Elna (Knutson) Solberg. She was raised and educated in Baker, North Dakota and graduated from Leeds High School in 1954. 

Joan was united in marriage to James Simonson on May 29, 1954 in Filmore, North Dakota. They lived in the Minneapolis area from 1955-1959. They made the move to Minot in 1959. Along with raising their four children, she was employed as a cashier at Red Owl Grocery Store for eleven years. Her husband, Jim died on August 5, 2008. Joan became a resident of Somerset Court in 2018.

Joan was a longtime member of Our Redeemer’s Lutheran Brethren Church and active with the Women’s Organization and Our Redeemers’ Quilting Bee. She was also active with Christian Women’s Club and did volunteer work within the Church.

Joan enjoyed quilting, traveling and cross-stitching, along with watching baseball games, especially the Minnesota Twins.

Her loving family includes, children, Bruce (Nina) Simonson, Carriere, MS, Lori (John) Wagar, Bemidji, MN, Reed (Tracy) Simonson, Belgrade, MT and Julie (Hal) Quammen, Minot, ND; 8 grandchildren to include: Kishori, Miriam, Joshua, Marcedes, Levi, Luke, Brent and Haley; 2 great grandchildren: Liston and Madilyn.

Joan was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 54 years, James; and sister: Bee Saunders.

Funeral service: Friday, December 10, 2021 at 1:30 p.m. in Our Redeemer’s Lutheran Brethren Church, Minot.  A livestream of the service will be available by accessing:  https://www.mtmsales.net/thomas
Interment: Sunset Memorial Gardens, Minot.
Visitation: Thursday, December 9th from 3:00-5:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
