Norma Breckel, 92, of Bismarck, passed away December 3, 2021, at Sunset Dr – a Prospera Community.

A Memorial Service will be held at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, December 8, 2021, at Bismarck Funeral Home.   Burial will follow the service at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan, ND.

Visitation will be held Tuesday from 6:00-7:00 PM at Bismarck Funeral Home, with a Prayer Service at 7:00 PM.

Norma was born on March 11, 1929 to Ludwig and Magdalena Wasen in Hazelton, ND.

On June 2, 1960, she married Gottlieb Breckel in Linton ND at the Baptist Church.  They made their home in Bismarck, where she worked at the North Dakota Department of Transportation until her retirement.  She also enjoyed working part time at Custer Family Planning.

Norma enjoyed all kinds of crafts, especially sewing and crocheting.  She also spent her time reading romance novels and putting word puzzles together.  She dearly loved her cat, Sheeba.

Norma will be deeply missed by her husband of 61 years, Gottlieb; sons, David Vollmers and Roger Vollmers; daughter, Kerry (Bryan) Vossler; brother, Marvin Wasen; sisters-in-law, Loretta Rau and Gail Breckel; grandchildren, Alicia, Melanie, Jarret, Brooke, Travis, Shannon, Megan, and Taylor; and great-grandchildren, Harrison, William, Casey, Wyatt, Braxton, Braelyn, Adeligh, Abigail, Asia, Kitana, and Kiara.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother Oscar Wasen; and sisters, Irene, Mildred, and Leona.
