June Turnbow, 96, Bismarck, passed away peacefully on Nov. 20, 2021. Mass of Christian burial will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 27 at Church of St. Anne, 1321 Braman Ave., Bismarck, with Fr. Jeff Zwack officiating. A service livestream will be available on the funeral home’s website.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Eastgate Funeral Service, 2302 E Divide Ave., Bismarck. A rosary/vigil service will be held at 7 p.m.

Burial will be held at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Bismarck.

June was born November 21, 1924, to George and Mae Ely. She attended Bismarck public schools and was a 1942 graduate of Bismarck High School. June worked for the Burleigh County Auditor’s Office until her marriage to Bill Turnbow in 1945. Bill and June owned and operated a farm and ranch northeast of Bismarck. June was hardworking and always ready to lend a helping hand.

June served on the Hay Creek District #31 school board for many years. She also volunteered with the county census and voting polls.

She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and loving caregiver. She enjoyed reading, gardening, traveling the United States and taking many Caribbean cruises. Her creative sewing and crocheting projects were shared with family and friends. June was a long-time member of the Elkettes and member of the Elks.

June is survived by her children, Caryn Lowe, Boise, Ida., Susan (Darr) Cannon, Georgetown, Tex., Sam (Nancy) Turnbow, Bismarck, and Dennis Turnbow, Portland, Oreg.; nine grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill; her parents; brother and sister-in-law, Bernard and Louise Ely; sister and brother-in-law, Irma and Dennis Klocow; son-in-law, Ed Lowe; and daughter-in-law, Lynn Turnbow.

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials to the Elks Camp Grassick, Church of St. Anne or a charity of the donor’s choice.
