Cathy (Woodall) Kunkel, 63, of Granville passed away on Friday, November 19, 2021 in a Minot hospital with her loving daughters by her side.

Cathy Esther Woodall was born on March 27, 1958 in Minot to Duane and Beverly (Bacon) Woodall. She was raised on the family farm in Kottke Valley Township of McHenry County near Granville and attended school in Granville. Cathy received her high school diploma and continued her education at Minot Business College where she specialized in bookkeeping and other areas of business courses.

Cathy married Dale Kunkel and they made their home on part of the Woodall family farm. Here they became parents to their three children Angela, Linda, and Bradley. They later divorced.

Cathy worked at a few different jobs off the farm but living the farming and ranching life is where her heart was at. She purchased her own farm in 1994 and has worked tirelessly to keep adding and improving to this dream of a lifestyle she loved. Her and her son Bradley worked side by side with the ranching and farming up until his passing in 2009. She was never afraid of the hard work it took to live this life. When her father’s interest in buffalo turned into a retail business, Big Sky Buffalo meat shop was opened on main street in Granville. Cathy ran the retail side of this for years. In this same building she was able to become partners with her daughter Angela when they opened A-C Western Shop. She was never a person to only have one thing on her plate at a time. Since then, these two business’ have dissolved, but from them came her vision of opening a meat processing plant. Cathy started S&E Meats and Specialties in 2005 and has been operating this business with her daughter Linda ever since. There was nothing more in this world that Cathy loved other than her children, except for her grandchildren. Those grandkids were the light of her life.

Cathy was a lifelong member of Hope Congregational Church in Granville. She was well known for her support and contribution to the community, especially if it was for the youth. Her favorite pastime when she was able to find some time to slip away from the work was riding her Harley Davidson. Cathy was the backbone to the planning and organizing the Brad Kunkel Memorial Family Fun Run each year.

Cathy’s loving family includes her daughter: Angela Kunkel (Scott Wittmayer) and Linda Kunkel (Walt Harbaugh) both of Granville; daughter-in-law: Dori Lundy of Granville; grandchildren: Lane Kunkel, Cody Eberle, Paul and Travis lhli and Samantha Lundy; great grandchildren: Braycen and Paislee Hedstrand; siblings: Douglas (Darnell) Woodall, Cynthia (Bob) Haga and David (Kathy) Woodall all of Granville, Susan Sharp of Bismarck and Melanie (Alan Elverud) of Leeds as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, grand nieces and grand nephews.

Cathy was preceded in death by her parents; stepmother Marie Woodall; son: Bradley Kunkel; niece: Miranda Woodall and nephew: Michael Woodall and Andrew Zimbelman.
