Delores Synnott, 92, Minot, died on Tuesday, November 23, 2021 in a Minot assisted living facility.

Delores Thelma Thoreson was born on December 4, 1928 in Minot to Theodore and Dakota (Mayo) Thoreson. She was raised and educated in Minot and graduated from Minot High School in 1946. She attended North Central Airlines School in Kansas City, MO and this led to her employment as a tele-type operator for Pan American World Airways in New York City from 1948 – 1950.

Delores was once married to William J. Synnott. They made their home in New York prior to moving back to Minot in 1956. Delores was employed at Ellison’s Department Store, Red Owl Grocery Store and at Midwest Federal Savings Bank as a bank teller.

Delores retired in 1990 and continued to make her home in Minot, most recently at Edgewood Vista Assisted Living Center.  

Delores was a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church where she was an active volunteer, Eucharistic Minister, and a faithful member of the morning coffee group. 

Delores will be remembered as a kind, caring, wise and fun woman. She loved making connections with people. She was independent and very proud of having lived in the same home for 64 years. She enjoyed sewing, embroidery, reading, gardening, and traveling.

Delores’ loving family includes her children:  Kevin (Diane) Synnott of Minot, Delane (Roger) Johnson of Grand Forks, Kathryn Spain of Fargo and Brian (Molly) Synnott of Briggsville, WI; daughter-in-law, Donna Shaver of Des Moines, Iowa; grandchildren Mary, Steven, Austin, Shaw, Sarah, Allison, Ann and Jacob; 11 great grandchildren, numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Delores was preceded in death by her parents, her son, Bill, and twin great grandsons, Ethan and Evan.

Mass of Christian Burial:  Friday, December 3, 2021 at 11:30 0 a.m. in Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church – Minot.  A livestream of the service will be available by accessing https://www.mtmsales.net/thomas

Vigil Prayer Service:  Thursday at 7:00 p.m. in the Thomas Family Funeral Home Chapel.

Visitation:  Thursday from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home – Minot.

Interment:  Rosehill Memorial Park – Minot.

Memorials are preferred to Roosevelt Park Zoo,  Minot Public Library, Saron Lutheran Cemetery or a charity of the donor’s choice.
