Violet (Vogel) Pfenning, 78, Bismarck, passed away Nov. 15, 2021 of Mesothelioma at Prospera on Sunset, Mandan. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 19 at Faith Lutheran Church, 1402 E Ave C, Bismarck. Visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Pkwy, Bismarck. Visitation will also continue one hour prior at the church.
Vi was born May 2, 1943 in Crown Butte to Adam and Eva (Scibek) Vogel. She attended Crown Butte school until 1955 when her family moved to Mandan. She continued her education at schools in Mandan.
She married Jerome Pfenning on December 17, 1961 at Faith Lutheran Church, Bismarck. Vi held many different positions at Sweetheart Bakery, Red Owl Bakery, Saks News, and was an independent merchandiser.
Vi enjoyed spending time with her family, often cooking and enjoying their company during the holidays. She also enjoyed spending time outdoors fishing, camping and traveling. Vi enjoyed catching up with friends and visiting with them. She was a member of Women of the Moose, United Blood Service and was a Scout Mom.
She was an advocate on social media for spreading awareness on Mesothelioma. Vi was open about her journey with this illness.
Vi is survived by her husband, Jeorme; daughter, Sandy; sons, Monte (Stacey) Pfenning and Greg Pfenning; brothers, Adam (Paulette) and Alan (Candy) Vogel; sister, Connie Erickson; grandchildren, Cory (Jessica), Lance (Kelly Yantzer) Zimmer; Shae Pfenning, Kade Pfenning, Laci Pfenning and Mya Pfenning; and great-grandchild, Atlas Zimmer.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Richard and Roger Vogel; and niece, Anna Vogel.
