Roger Hillerud, 66, Bismarck, passed away Nov. 15, 2021. A memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 20 at New Life Church, 1320 Tacoma Ave, Bismarck. A service livestream will be available on the funeral home’s website, listed below.

Roger was born June 8, 1955, in Minot to Stanley and Kathryn Hillerud. He graduated high school from Velva in 1973. On December 22, 1973, he married his high school sweetheart, Denise Legg.

He became employed with Basin Electric in March 1975. He began his career with Basin Electric at William J. Neil plant at Velva. In January 1978, he transferred to Wheatland, Wyoming, where he worked as a Coal Yard Lead Man until 1982. He then transferred to Antelope Valley Station in Beulah, where he was the Coal Yard Supervisor until his retirement in 2005.

Roger enjoyed fishing, hunting, MotoCross racing, playing guitar, writing music and was a part of his church worship team for many years. Roger had a love for dogs. Growing up, his dog BooBoo would ride with him on his snowmobile, motorcycle and horse. He had several dogs over the years.

He had a great love for his family and enjoyed spending time with his three children and 11 grandchildren.

Roger is survived by his wife, Denise; children, Kyle (Micale) Hillerud, Derick (Kathy) Hillerud and Nicole (Cory) Yanish; 11 grandchildren, Tayadora, Katianna, Braetyn, Daylan, Bransyn, Brennica, Hadley, Brextyn, Judah, Caydance and Justice; two brothers, John and Gary; two sisters, Colleen and Karilyn; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Stanley and Kathryn (Loftesnes) Hillerud; and niece, Rachel (Hillerud) Chianese.
