Marjorie “Peggy” Myers
April 23, 1933 – November 10, 2021
Marjorie (Peggy) Myers, 88, Parshall, passed away Wednesday, November 10, 2021. Memorial services will be held on Tuesday, November 16, 2021 at 11:00 am at the Garrison Church of God. Burial will be held at a later date.
Peggy was born to Grover and Bertina (Olson) McLaughlin on April 23, 1933, on the family farm northwest of Plaza, North Dakota. Here she attended school and worked at her family’s hotel. She went on to work at a local restaurant where she met her husband, James (Jim) Myers.
Jim and Peggy were married on September 23, 1950, in Plaza, and in 1951, moved south of Parshall where they started farming. To this union, three boys were born: Rodney, Randy, and Robert. She was a vital part of Myers Spraying Service which lasted more than 45 years. After the spraying season was over, they hosted a pig roast for their customers. Peggy would make dressing and all side dishes. She was an excellent cook, and no one ever went hungry. Her grandkids loved her “brown bread” and warm buns from the oven. It was a joke that when you got a sandwich made by Peggy, it wasn’t a “bun sandwich”, it was a “meat sandwich”!
Peggy always loved raising a large garden and canning produce in the fall. Flowers were always plentiful around the farm, and she had many flower beds filled with hundreds of flowers. Peggy was very creative, talented, and always busy with new projects. She loved to paint; many homes are adorned with her paintings. Quilting became another craft that she loved. One Christmas, she made a quilt for each member of her family. She loved to play Scrabble, Upwards, and cards. She especially loved playing with her grandkids. Although, no one wanted to play with her because she always won. Peggy’s mom, Bertina, would come to visit and they would play Scrabble for hours.

She loved spending time with her four granddaughters, and she felt fortunate to be able to watch them grow up, attending their many activities and events.
Peggy was a member of the Parshall Ambulance Squad for 20 years and would go on to serve as squad leader. She always felt it was important to give back and have this service in the community.
Peggy continued to live on the farm after her husband’s death in 2010. In 2016, she moved to the Meadows in Garrison, then to the Wellington in 2019 where she remained until her health began to decline.
Peggy is survived by her sons, Rodney Myers (Meeteetse, WY), Randy (Barb) Myers, (Parshall, ND), Rob Myers, (Minot, ND); granddaughters, Stephanie (Patrick) Haas (Spring Hill, FL),a, Summer Van Rooyen (Minot, ND), Brianna Myers (Bakersfield, CA), Whitney Myers (Fargo, ND); greatgrandchildren: Savannah, Jameson, Gavin, Monroe, Freyja; sister: Beverly McLaughlin (Minneapolis, MN)
